Missions

We believe that every member of the church is a missionary to his or her own neighborhood.

In addition, we provide the financial support for the church in Yenagoa, Nigeria, through an annual freewill missions offering.

Our missions offering for 2023 ended on December 15th, and God enabled us to send over $20,000 to the Africa Missions Association!  But we continue to collect money for missions year-round, and all missions money received after December 15th will be used for our 2024 support to the church in Yenagoa.

How can I support the church in Yenagoa?

The most important thing you can do is pray for them!  Pray for the members, for their outreach and service to the community, and pray for Gbenga and Regina Atolagbe, who serve as leaders of that congregation.

You can also give financially.  Just click the Give to Missions button below.

Yenagoa

Yenagoa is the capital city of Bayelsa state, in the southernmost part of Nigeria.  It is a city of contrasts, with beautiful areas as well as terrible poverty.
As of June 2021, the church has 75 members, having grown from 54 members when the Savannah church began supporting them in 2019.

Gbenga and Regina Atolagbe

Gbenga and Gina serve the church full-time, thanks to the financial support of the members of the Savannah Church of Christ.  In addition to leading the ministry in Yenagoa, they also provide training and spiritual guidance to the leaders of two other churches, Calabar and Uyo, in two neighboring states.  The Atolagbes have three children.
